If you can only have one jungle lodge experience in Costa Rica, you might choose the remote biological reserve and experimental fruit farm just south of Pavones, Tiskita Jungle Lodge. Back in 1993 Peter Aspinall, an agronomist, and his family purchased 51 hectares/125 acres to create an experimental fruit farm. Their open orchard has attracted a plethora of bird life. Once the Aspinalls settled here, their focus expanded to help the local town of Punta Banco, where, with the help of Rotary Clubs, they helped fund a community health clinic. Philanthropic guests have contributed to support the village school. And the breezy hillside location, overlooking the Pacific and surrounded by rainforest, led the lodge to expand its land purchased for conservation to 222 hectares/550 acres.
